That doesn't happen too often.

So last Friday I was in the mood to get blind, stinkingly drunk. Lacking my reliable drunken friend resistone (damn Melbourne) I put out an all-points broadcast for drinking buddies.

I found some, we drank at our house and then went out. I finished two thirds of a bottle of scotch before we left.
The rest of the night is blurry, without even any photographic record as I lost my camera.

I'd be content with it staying dim and blurry but noooo, every couple of days someone else is telling me something else about it. My favourite two so far being that I fell off stage while dancing with a friend of my older sister (that I didn't even remember seeing until she told me), and also groped the friend of another friend whom I didn't know at all (who randomly came across my picture on said friends facebook page).

Granted, I looked him up and I can see why I would grope him, but still, sleeping dogs yeah?

Woah.

I put on one of Gunther Von Hagens DVD's (that I haven't seen before) to have something on in the background... but it's kind of hard to concentrate on anything else when they're peeling a real human body like an overripe mango.

What I love almost as much as the actual dissection are the shots of the audience, which seems to be split into three distinct catagories:
1: Avid and eager.
2: Mildly horrified but unable to look away.
3: The quietly angry looking guy, who uses angry-face to cover up being in groups one or two.

omg they're using a deli-meat slicer to carve up a brain! Ha!

The mess at 2:45am.

I like to leave a familiar movie on when I'm in bed sick to comfort me. Which is fine until one of the characters abruptly wakes you by screaming "It's just a flash bomb! GO! GO!" - upon which I ninja-roll out of both sleep and my bed, only to promptly vomit.

And then it all went downhill.

So. After a shit day at work during which I felt an over-abundance of crapness, I return home not to find a quiet bed and some peace to sort my mindset out in, but a party I'd forgotten completely about. Never one to say 'Die' without 'hard' attached to it's rear, I make myself the biggest scotch possible (really, it takes two hands to hold this thing) and throw myself in...

Queue the braindead bleached blonde cookie cutter barbie doll freaks that pass for normal chicks these days, and what used to be interesting, self-assured men dry-humping in their wake. I swear I'm gonna stop drinking just to take the one other gay guy here around the block.

Just got back from The Grates playing at Capitol. They were great. Spent the entire show on the upper balcony dancing our ass of like psychos, my calves want to secede and form their own nation. Dan was down on the ground in front, he gave Patience/John a bowtie and they dragged him up onstage for a hug and gave him the setlist for the show (FTW Dan!)

So, still buzzing, gonna pay for this (ongoing) lack of sleep tomorrow.

Worth it.

Could not find a trace of my credit card, which annoys but doesn't worry me, just have to cancel the fucker.
What I did find, however, was that at some point in distant history, I shoved a couple of hundred bucks into a card case and then forgot about it.
Somewhere in the middle.

So went to rowing this morning for the second week, all excited cos we got to actually jump in and go for a paddle for the first time (first week was on the training machine to practice technique). It was windy as hell and choppy, but the caoch was all "Nevermind, jump in anyway, this week: Survival techniques!"
Still, was very very fun, and I was getting the swing of it until I needed to back around with only one paddle to turn and counteract the the cross current, and in the space of four seconds went from upright to in the river. So had to swim back dragging the scull.

Still, loved it. Hopefully next week is calm.

Well hello there.

Some backstory: when Julie was still living here she and Scott would always be using my laptop to wade the interweb, so I made the rule that they always had to have at least one tab open with porn (of any sort, extra credit for bizarre) in it.
Cut to four seconds ago, when I opened my laptop to find lesbian midget porn and "Everyday Klingon Phrases". Scott is an odd little person.

In other news, I slept with a friend last night. Something I've scrupulously avoided every doing before now, and to further muddy these obviously crystal waters I had to get up and decamp for work early this morning, leaving him in my bed, so we didn't get to, y'know, set the tone for the aftermath. Then I needed to work all day with a massive hangover on forty minutes of sleep and an utterly destroyed throat which came out of left field, hope I didn't pass it on to him like some diseased outbreak monkey.

Anyway, the conclusion we reach? Fail.

You've got enough to go around, oh my!

So went to see Cold War Kids last night in Metropolis Freo (I know, I 'ew' a little bit every time, too) by myself cos none of my peoples have the love for CWK.

How was it, you say?
Fuckin' awesome, I reply.

Had the best god damn seats in the house, top tier, little alcove overlooking everything, little comfy armchairs to sit in while waiting and a charming group of friends (friends with each other, they didn't know me from Adam when they first arrived) acting as bouncers and keeping out the unwashed masses. Really, it was like being in the founders booth.

Anyway, CWK rocked out ( sidebar: Nathan Willett sings and plays keyboard like straight men hug - bent over almost ninety degrees at the hip so their crotches don't touch); their set was biased towards their second album, which is understandable considering that the two singles off of that one got more rotation here than the first album, but I always thought that the second album was kinda shit (at least compared to their first, which was absolutely amazing). The crowd of fans agreed with me, too. Every time the opening chords of one of the songs from Cowards & Robbers came up they went ballistic, and everyone knew everyone single word (which couldn't really be said of the songs from the second album, where it's hard to even make the words out amidst the cacaphonic threnody).

So. That was that. Awesome.

Oh, also, I drove into the city with a friend to go see Cirque Du Soleil on Sunday night, only to realise, while looking for a parking space, that the tickets are actually for the 11th of Feb, not the 1st. I'm just happy this stupidity was discovered before we presented them at the entrance. So we went to watch Twilight (oop, little vomit there..) at the cinema. It was actually not as bad as I was expecting, which was surprising, although the sheer depth of willfull stupidity in the lead character was aggravating.

The end.

My Week?

I got last minute (very last minute) free tickets to Panic! At The Disco on wednesday night (from the lovely and charming Lady of the Lake, Elise) and they fucking rocked out, was awesome! Didn't think they'd be able to carry themselves off live but they were absolutely brilliant, and after seeing them in person I have much more love for their second album (although I still think the first is better). Of course, I felt pretty bad about the last second bailing out on my wed night volleyball team (I only got the message about tickets while getting changed for vball), who went on to lose without the sheer magnitude of spectacular ball handling skills I possess (no sniggering in the back!).

Then my wonderful little seamonkey Scotty busted out with a free double pass to Hellboy 2 on thursday. So I dragged Elise along to play David & Margaret with me, and we watched in delighted amazement as Guillermos stunning fantasy world managed to make what should have been something shocking into something that was really quite enjoyable, tumour humour and all.

Now am totally broke but payday is wednesday and my 25th is next saturday.

Four jobs I've had:
1. Australia Post worker (I know where you live)
2. General hand in an ice skating rink (Best thing ever during an aussie summer without air conditioning)
3. Redemptions officer in a mortgage company (I misplaced almost 6,000,000 Euro one night, plonked it in the wrong account at the end of the day)
4. Adventure world minion. (Most BORING JOB EVER, you wouldn't expect this from the bright, primary coloured uniforms. I only lasted two shifts before I bailed).

Four movies I can watch over and over:
1. Saved!
2. The Shawshank Redemption
3. The Sum of Us.
4. Shortbus
Unsurprisingly, that was a pretty gay list.

Four of my favourite songs (at the moment):
1. MGMT - Time to Pretend
2. Sook-Yin Lee - Beautiful
3. Jay Brannan - Soda Shop
4. Modest Mouse - Float On

Four of my favourite foods:
1. Home made pizza
2. Tacos
3. Chilli con carne
4. Cinema popcorn (which I know I shouldn't be calling a 'food', but I'm a whore for that junk.)

Four people I feel sorry for:
1. Al Gore. Seriously, if his party and the american media had more backbone he would've been president.
2. Lee Harvey Oswald. Yeah, like anyone actually believes he shot JFK.
3. Uhm. I don't know who else.

Four bottles of perfume/aftershave I own:
1. Cool Water by Davidoff
2. Pi by Givenchy
3. Versus by Versace
4. Fujiyama Homme

Four things I tote around in my bag:
1. Mobile phone (set to vibrate - I fuckin hate mobile phones)
2. Book/Cryptic crossword from the West Aust. (To keep me amused)
3. iRiver (for the providing of tune-age)
4. Lock pick set (granted, I can only successfully employ it half the time, but it's downright handy)

Four places I've vacationed:
1. Rome.
2. Athens.
3. Stockholm (and stayed in the most amazing river boat hostel on a frozen river)
4. 80 Mile Beach Caravan Park. Hell yes it deserves to be on this list.

Four places I want to visit:
1. Japan.
2. Canada. Vancouver and the Yukon in particular.
3. Antarctica.
4. Easter Island.

Four of my favourite drinks:
1. Margarita
2. Jager-bomb
3. Whiskey and dry
4. Anything on the Hula Bula Bar menu.

Four websites I visit frequently:
1. http://www.thinkgeek.com
2. http://www.facebook.com
3. http://www.handbookmen.com
4. http://www.theonion.com

Four places I would rather be right now:
1. Asleep. I'm going to bed after this.
2. 80 Mile Beach. It's been freaking years.
3. That lovely warm giant rock next to the crystal clear bay on Aegina.
4. Drinking margaritas in Sara the Swedes warm apartment in stockholm on a dark night with snow piled up outside which we will undoubtably be running around in in just a little while.

Four people I am tagging:
1. bridgetdrusilla
2. millertime77
3. unhappyending
4. luvrentboy
